May & June Empties

Hello my lovely readers,

Two months have passed since my last empties post and that means it's time for another one. I finished quite a lot of products and in this post I'll show you all of them, starting with nail polish.
When I was cleaning my room, I also went through my nail polishes and decided to threw away quite a lot of them. All of these are old, dried out or just not working the way I want them too. I'll go through them all, the shades, brands and the reason why I throwing them out. I'm starting this list at:  8 o'clock and I'll go through clockwise (as much as is possible).
  • Essence Colour & Go: This one doesn't have it's name on it anymore but it was a shimmery light pink topcoat that dried out. No longer available.
  • Essence Nude Glam 05 Toffee To Go: This is a nude shade that I never really used because the shade doesn't suit my skintone. No longer available.
  • Essence Colour & Go 68 High Spirits: This is a shimmery greenish colour that has dried out. Not longer available.
  • Essence Colour & Go 43 Where Is The Party?: This is one of those nail polishes that look like oil, it's a really cool shade but this polish never stays on longer then a few hours before it starts chipping.
  • Essence Floral Grunge 03 Grunge Me Tender! (Suede): This was a polish of a limited edition that I really liked but also doesn't work, because of the finish. The suede look makes it impossible to put a top coat over it and you have to apply six layers until it's opaque. No longer available.
  • Catrice Ultimate Nail Laquer 29 Will You Berry Me?!: I haven't had this berry nail polish for a long time but for some reason the brush is not straight. This makes it impossible to paint my nail with it and thats why I'm throwing it away. By clicking here you can read my review (in which the brush was still straight) but this nail polish is no longer available.
  • Catrice Ultimate Nail Lacquer 520 Apropos Apricot: This is a gorgeous colour that unfortunately turned sticky and every time I try to use it the polish comes out in long threats and I put it away again. Time to throw it away! No longer available.
  • Catrice Ultimate Nail Lacquer 875 It's All I Can Blue: This I'm simply throwing away because I bought a new electric blue polish that I like better (this one) and because it's starting to dry out. By clicking here you can read my review but this nail polish is no longer available.
  • HEMA Long Lasting Nail Polish 85: The reason that I'm throwing this gorgeous nail polish out is the same as the previous one, I've another one that I like more. I don't know if this is still available.
  • NYC Top Coat 003 Disco Inferno: I have no idea what's wrong with this nail polish but I'm not able to open this polish. I've tried everything but nothing works so I'll just throw it away. No longer available.
  • HEMA Long Lasting  Nail Polish (shade unknown): The number of this polish has rubbed off but this gorgeous mint nail polish is going for the same reason as the previous two ones.
  • H&M Nail Polish Cherry: A while ago, this was a gorgeous bloodyred nailpolish but the bottle is really small and I finished it. It's one of the few polishes that I've ever finished in my whole life and I have no idea if it's still available.
  • W.I.C. by Herôme Chicago 58: I know that I photographed it but this one's staying. I wanted to throw it away because I haven't worn this in a very long time but when I opened this polish to see how thick it had become, I saw that it still was perfectly fine. No longer available.
  • W.I.C. by Herôme Edinburgh 116: This nail polish is going, the polish turned sticky and I'm not able to work with it anymore. No longer available.
  • W.I.C. by Herôme Buenos Aires 106: This polish is also going to the trashcan, same reason but luckily I've been able to find a polish that's very similar and just as gorgeous. No longer available.
  • Gosh 548 Green Hawaii: I think this is the eldest polish in this batch. Once it was a pretty green top coat but now it's dried out, sticky and thick. No longer available.
  • NYC Expert Last Nail Polish 253 Mint Macaroon: Last year this was one of my favourite polishes but also this has been replaced but a mint polish that just looks better. This one is available.
  • Essence Nail Art Special Effect Topper 04 Mystic Mermaid: This polish is simply going because I never use it. No longer available.
  • Essence Nail Art Special Effect Topper 08 Night In Vegas: This nail polish is a really cool holographic top coat but it's still going because I have another newer one of these.
Those were all the nail polishes I'm throwing away, quite a lot and that's a good thing, believe me I have way too many nail polishes.
Time for the shower products I finished. I don't know why but almost all the shower things i own at the moment are orange, maybe it's because of the world cup (orange is the colour of the Netherlands) but I have no idea to be honest. The product on the upper left is the Satsuma Body Polish from The Body Shop. I'm very much in love with this scrub and I'm really sad that it's gone. The product in the middle of the top row is also from The Body Shop, it's a Mini Mango Shower Gel. I'm surprised about the fact that I could take so many showers with this because it's really really small. I put this away for the winter but now I brought it out again and finished it. The last product of the top row is a sample of the Good Luck Scrub by Rituals, I was planning on saving this for when I finally went on holiday but when I wanted to shave my legs, I had to scrub them first. Unfortunately the last scrub I had was empty so I decided that I was going to use this one and I was pretty pleased.  It's a nice sugar scrub and it kicked off an amazing scent. The last product in this photo is a shower gel from Dove, this brands is one of my favourite brands when it comes to shower products. This is the Go Fresh Nourishing shower gel with the scent of nectarines and white ginger. I found this one in a Dutch store called the action and I've never seen it in other stores where they sell Dove products. That's a sad thing because this is an incredible summer scent, really fresh and lovely.
On to the next photo, I told you I had finished many products these months. The first product is the Hair Removal Spray from Kruidvat that I reviewed recently and was already empty after one time using it. The second product is the Dove Hair Therapy Split Ends Rescue Leave-On Treatment that I used with a lot of joy for a very long time. I really loved this product because I really felt like it did something for my hair instead of the red product that's next to it in the photo. That's the Full Repair Perfect Ends Deep Infusion by John Frieda. The one from John Frieda didn't work but luckily I found the one from Dove, that did work. The next product on this photo that I finished is from The Body Shop that I absolutely loved. It was part from the limited edition they did for Christmas and out of those three, this is the Cranberry one (review).I also have a little tip for you, I always save these little mini things and use them for traveling. I also finished a nail polish remover from HEMA but that's not that interesting I think. The last product on this photo is also from The Body Shop and i't's their Peppermint Reviving Foot Soak. I've never written a review about this product but it's one of my absolute favourites. I've made several foot baths with this and it always manages to make my foot prettier and nicer, love it.
These are the last three products I finished during may and june. One of them is my favourite moisturizer from Vichy that i keep repurchasing all the time. The one in the photo is the normal one and I've never written a review of this one but I did do one on the rich version of the Aqualia Thermal moisturizers, read it by clicking here. As almost always, there is a mascara in my empties post, this one is the Big Bold Curl Mascara from NYC. I've you read my review of this, you probably know that I'm not a big fan of this one. It's very clumpy and doesn't last good on my lashes, just not a good one and I don't recommend it. Then finally we've come to the end of this long blog post, my Nivea Aqua Effect Soothing Cleansing Cream. This is one of my favourite products, this is my fourth empty tube and I already bought a new one.

And this is the end of this very long blog post. I really hope you enjoyed reading it and I hope this gave you some ideas of what to buy and what not to buy in the future.

E.

L'Oréal Color Riche l'Extraordinaire Liquid Lipstick in '101 Rose Melody'

Hello my lovely readers,

I don't review a lot of L'Oréal products because it's quite expensive. Today however, I do have a L'O'réal review for you. This is a lip product that I recently bought and that I have been liking quite lot lately, it's the L'Oréal Color Riche l'Extraordinaire Liquid Lipstick in the shade '101 Rose Melody'.
L'Oréal claims that this lipstick has an intenser colour then a normal lipstick, more shine then a lipgloss and the comfort of a lipbalm. Here in the Netherlands they're available in seven very different shades.
This weirdly shaped applicator applied like a dream, the applicator has two wires with the fluffy thing around it. This means that you can push them aside, it's weird but it works.
This is what the product looks like on my lips, not a lot of colour and a lot of shine.I usually don't like shimmery lipproducts but this one is very pretty. It's a very nude shade but i have the shade reminds me a lot of rose gold.
I'm quite happy with my L'Oréal purchase but I kind of wish that it was more pigmented and a bit less shimmery. I think I'll get a lot of wear out of this lipstick/gloss product because it's such a natural shade. perfect to wear to school or work. This lipstick costs €15,95 and is currently available in stores.

Eucerin Sun Allergy Protection Cream gel

Hello my loves,

I cannot exactly remember in which post I wrote it but I do know I wrote about it, with it I mean my sun allergy. This isn't something I have had forever, it started when I was about twelve years old and hasn't gone away ever since. When I first started to get red itchy bumps I went to the doctor and she told me that I had a sun allergy, I never looked it up or anything but when I was doing some research for this article, I found that there are different sorts of sun allergy. I don't know this for sure but the thing I have has all the symptoms of Polymorphus Light Eruption (PLE). This is an itchy rash caused by sun exposure and this rash usually appears as red, tiny bumps or slightly raised patches of skin. Well that exactly what I have, when I go into the sun and I don't have a tan (so in the spring/beginning of summer), my skin gets all red and itchy and nothing helps. Sometimes a sunscreen with a really high spf helps a little bit but I always have those itchy red bumps when I get into the sun.
I think you can imagine how happy I was when my mother brought this sunscreen home from her work, she works at a pharmacy. This sunscreen is proven to work against sun allergies such as PLE and I really hoped it would help me with my sun allergy.
The sunscreen is slightly yellow-tinted and quite thick but easy to smear, it does however take quite a long time until the cream has sunken in completely. I really like that this sunscreen doesn't give me a white cast, some sunscreens do that and I don't like that at all, it makes me look way paler than I am and I'm already very pale.
I've been testing this sunscreen for a couple of weeks now and I must say that I'm a little bit impressed. This sunscreen does really help with my allergy, when I use this, my rash is less red and itchy but the spf is way too low for me. Normally I use a spf 30 or 50 and I really need one that high because I would burn otherwise. That why this sunscreen isn't completely for me, there is one with spf 50 available but I haven't been able to find it at a store. The pharmacy where my  mother works doesn't have it in stock and for some reason they cannot order the spf 50 version. Because my mother bought this for me I don't know the exact price online I've found it for €18.

LOTD: Prom

Hello my lovely readers,

For todays post I thought it would be fun to show you the makeup and dress I wore to my prom. I kept it quite simple and on the real night I added some falsies, for the rest this was my makeup look. I sincerely had one of the best night of my life and I'm going to miss my friend soo much next year when everybody goes to college or other higher education. I also think this is a great moment to share my very very good news with you; I PASSED MY EXAMS. I just got the news and I still cannot believe that I'll be going to my graduation in just a few weeks, it's amazing.
I wore a golden-bronze eye look for which I used the Maybelline Color Tattoo in 'On and On Bronze' (review) with the Catrice Made To Stay Eyeshadow in '080 Copper & Gabbana' (review)and my MAC 'Mulch' eyeshadow . For eyeliner I used my Maybelline gel eyeliner and my Catrice Glamour Doll Mascara. My lipstick is also from MAC and it's the one I especially bought for my prom; Pink Plaid (review).
These are two pictures of the night itself, I wore a hot pink short dress from Berschka (this one), I wanted to to wear heels with it but I decided that that wasn't such a good idea. I couldn't go out for a night out dancing if I wore my highest heels so I decided to wear my old beaten down blue all-stars. I know it's crazy but thats just me, I have a lot of heels and yet I wear my all stars to my prom.
I hoped you liked reading this post and I really hope that if you had a prom, it was just as amazing as mine was.

Kruidvat Wax Strips

Hello my lovely readers,

It's Monday again, a new week arrived and I'm feeling like shit. It started on Saturday and I'm still feeling not too well. I have absolutely no idea what I have but I keep feeling very nauseous and my headache won't go away. To top my misery off, I'm writing a review that isn't very positive, in fact, it's quite negative. I'm reviewing the wax strips from Kruidvat (a Dutch drugstore). If you have read my review of their hair removal spray, you know that I absolutely hate shaving. That removal spray worked but was empty after using it one time and smelled really bad. Last year I used wax strips from Veet and I really liked those but they're quite expensive, ten euros I believe and therefore I bought some cheaper ones from the homebrand (is that correct English? well I hope you understand).
I didn't really think price or brand would matter a lot when wax strips were the subject but it turns out that it really does. The Veet wax strips were really good and worked perfect but these ones from Kruidvat are awful. At first I cannot get them warm the way you're supposed to warm these strips up before you use them, they get a little bit warmer but they're not warm enough I think and therefore they don't work. Because the wax doesn't get hot enough, the wax doesn't remove your hairs, it just doesn't work the way it's supposed to work. Another thing I noticed when I removed the two strips from each other, was then the wax from one strip, came off and stuck to the other half. This was probably because the wax doesn't get hot enough but I still don't think that's supposed to happen.
After approximately five attempts, I gave up. The strips didn't remove my hair completely and I was sick of trying to make it work and I just stopped to write this negative review about them. Even Though these wax strips are only €2,99, I'd rather spend more for some that do work than buy these again.

NOTD: 56 Minter Wonderland

Hello my lovely readers,

Today I have yet another NOTD post for you guys, last week I posted a post like this from my first Sally Hansen nail polish but today's nail polish is from a brand that's more familiar here on FIOL; Catrice. A few year ago, I was a massive fan of their nail polishes but when they reformulated them, my love turned to hate. When G told me that they weren't that bad now, I decided to give them another try. Well apparently they reformulated them again because the one I bought is quite nice.
The nail polish I bought is called Minter Wonderland and it's part of the Ultimate Nail Lacquer collection. This line has thanks to the new Gloss Booster technology these nail polishes have a high-shine finish, perfect
coverage and ultra-long durability, at least thats what Catrice claims. I totally agree with the high-shine finish and the perfect coverage but not with the ultra-long durability, it started chipping after two days. That quite good but I wouldn't claim that as ultra-long. The colour of this nail polish is btw totally gorgeous, a cool mint colour that perfect for the summer and reminds me a lot of a pool (even though a pool isn't mint green).
The polish is completely opaque in two coats and with a topcoat, it lasts at least two days. You do have to use a base coat underneath this, believe me it's must. I had a blue wash over my nails because I didn't one.
The Catrice Ultimate Nail Lacquer polishes cost €2,99 and are available at Kruidvat.

Cute clothing for a summer holiday

Hello my lovely readers,

I don't know about you guys but my favourite kind of holidays, are the ones to a sunny place. The joy of living in a country as small as the Netherlands, is that you can travel to another country in no time. I live in the middle of the Netherlands and that means that it's only an hour drive to Germany and approximately two hours to Belgium. For the past seventeen years I travelled through Europe and I went at least once a year on a holiday (sometimes even two times) and that while my family isn't rich or anything. We're very ordinary. In the almost eighteen years that I've been walking around on this planet I've been to Belgium, France, Spain, Germany, Poland, Austria, Switzerland. Italia, Samnaun and Denmark and that all by car bus or train, I've never been on a plane in my life. That's one of the perks of living in Europa, it's not that big and if your from a family with an ordinary income (for Dutch standards, I don't know how it's in other countries) you get to see quite a lot of countries in your life.
Still there are a lot of countries and cities I want to go tot, Australia and New Zealand for example are countries that I would love to visit. America, Indonesia, Brazil and India are also high on my list but even here in Europa there are cities I want to visit. Venice, Rome, Paris, London and Barcelona are five cities that I really want to go to and visiting London will happen in August. Before I go there I'm going on holiday with my parents for one last time, we're going to a place in the south of France that we've been going to for the past five years and I still enjoy it just as much as the first time I went there. I have friends here in the Netherlands that I met there and that I still talk to on a regular basis and I even have some friends over there in France. This time will probably be the very last time that I go there and I thought it would be fun to show you some clothes that I would wear on my holiday. Even though I've to wait two week until I actually go there, I'm cannot wait and I want to start the planning and packing already.
Beachwear
The first type of clothing you'll have to take with you on a summer holiday is of course beachwear. I already bought a new bikini to wear this year (the one on the photo above) and I also want to buy a bikini cover-up this year. I never had one but it just seems so convenient to have one. I've selected some cute ones in different styles and I think I will purchase that one from H&M, even though it doesn't go with my swimsuit at all.
Tops
These are the types of tops that I like to wear during a sunny holiday. They are all very floaty and airy, perfect for those hot summer days.
Bottoms & Playsuits
When you're on a sunny holiday, it's probably going to be very hot and humid. I basically live in shorts and dresses but lately I've been really liking playsuits, even though I don't actually own one. They just seem so easy to wear and comfortable. I usually just wear shorts or dresses in the summer but these two playsuits are just the cutest and I'm really craving those right now.
Short dresses
During the winter I don't really wear dresses because I always feel too fancy. In the summer however, I wear quite a lot of dresses. Floral prints are my favourites and I just recently got a really cute floral dress that I'll probably wear a lot this summer.
Maxi dresses
This is really out of my comfort zone but I really think I have to go for long this summer. The area I live is very rural and you don't see a lot of maxi dresses, I think they're really pretty but I'm not brave enough to wear them. I think the third dress is absolutely gorgeous and maybe that will become the first maxi dress that I actually buy.
Shoes
These are the three shoes I wear usually wear on my holidays. I take a few pairs of flip-flops with me, my all-stars and a pair of sandals. The search for a cute sandals is for me quite hard, I have quite big feet and I haven't been able to find a pair that I like. The pair on this photo would be great but I cannot find it online. If someone of you knows where I can find a pair similar to this, please let me know.

Other stuff
The last products I have for you today are other products that I have to take with me on my holiday. I have to have my sunglasses and my jacket with me, I'll probably don't wear it but you never know if it will rain or will get chilly. The only accessories that I wear during the summer are some leather bracelets that I've sort of been collecting over the years from places I've travelled to and my silver ring that I bought in the beginning of this year.
When I started writing this post, I thought I was writing my summer essentials post but it turned out to be a post full of cute summer clothes. Sometimes that's how I blog, I want to do one thing and I do something else. Not that I mind because I really like how this post turned out and I hope you did too.

Love,
E.

FOTD: MAC Pink Plaid

Hello my lovely readers,

As promised in my review of the MAC Pink Plaid lipstick (read it here), here is my 'Face Of The Day' in which I'm actually showing you how it looks on. This lipstick is a perfect mix between pink and nude and for me this has been the perfect nude lipstick during the past couple of days.
I thought I would give this post a special twist, last week my cousin asked if she could try some hairstyles out on me for her bridesmaids. I wanted to show you the look but when I got home I was soaked by the rain and the hair was ruined by the Dutch wind. When I was preparing myself for this post I, I decided to put my hair up in and updo and make this look in some sort of a wedding look. A really simple makeup look with a nice dress. I'm starting this post with the eyelook and than I'll show you my full face.
This is the simple and sweet eyelook I made to combine for this post. To make it, I used a palette that I had forgotten a little bit. The palette I'm talking about is the 'All About Nude' palette from Essence (review). I cannot exactly remember what exact combination I used but it's pretty simple, just a light shimmery pink on the lid and a taupe-shade in the crease. I also drew a simple sleek cat-eyeliner with my Maybelline eyeliner-pen (review) and applied a few coats of mascara. Can you guess which one? Of course the Catrice Glamour Doll Mascara (review).
And my whole face, as you can see I put my hair in an updo that's quite tight. I personally like messier updos better but for once it was fun to wear my hair like this. Let's talk you through the makeup that's on my face. I started off my base with a bb-cream 6-in-1 from Yves Rocher and my All Matt Plus Shine Control Powder (review). Than I contoured my face with my Sleek Face Form Contour and Blush Palette in 372 Fair (review), I just used the bronzer in the hollow of my cheeks and kept it very minimal. The blush I'm wearing is my favourite one at the moment and it's the Gradiation Blush in Waterloo Sunrise that unfortunately was limited edition (review).  The lipstick I'm wearing is of course MAC Pink Plaid.
I hope you liked the look I created, I think this look would be incredibly pretty to wear to a spring/summer wedding but also just for everyday. Super versatile and simple. Have a lovely day!

E

MAC Flat Out Fabulous VS Catrice Matt-erial Girl

Hello my lovely readers,

Last month I wrote a review off my first MAC lipstick (read it here) and in that review I told you about a Catrice lipstick (read my review here) that seemed very similar in my eyes. Today I'm comparing the two of them to see if they are really as similar as I thought they were.
The two lipsticks I'm talking about are 'Flat Out Fabulous' from MAC and 'Matt-erial Girl' by Catrice. Two gorgeous purpley-pink lipsticks that I both love and cherish. One very budget-proof and one quite expensive.
Even the packaging of these lipsticks look similar, they both come in sleek black bullets. If you look at them without swatching you can already see the similarities, the only difference I can see is that the one from Catrice looks shinier than the one from MAC.
This is how the swatches of both lipsticks look, the one on the top is the one from MAC and the bottom one is Catrice. You can clearly see that they look very much alike, there are however a few differences. 'Matt-erial Girl' is a bit darker and 'Flat Out Fabulous' looks more matte. It also looks like 'Flat Out Fabulous' has more purple in it than 'Matt-erial Girl'.
This is how both of them look on my lips, on the left you see the lipstick from Catrice and on the right you see the one from MAC. There is a difference but I cannot really see it, I think the biggest difference is the finish. The one from MAC is slightly more matte then the Catrice one but the shades are both very much alike.
I think Catrice 'Matt-erial Girl' is a very good budget proof dupe for MAC 'Flat Out Fabulous', two gorgeous lipsticks, one very cheap and one more expensive.

MUA Sheer Finish Lipgloss in: Some Me Time

Hello my lovely readers,

Today I have another review of a MUA product for you. Earlier this month you could read a review of the Undressed palette but that's not the only product I bought from this (for me) new brand. When I finally saw the actual products in real life I was a bit  disappointed, I don't really know why the products just didn't really appeal to me. I did however found something I wanted to try and today I'm writing the review of that product.
The product that I bought is the 'Sheer Finish Lipgloss' (yes I know the text in the photo above says Lipgloss, sorry). I'm not a huge lipgloss fan but I still like to try them once in a while, hoping to find one I really like. According to MUA this is a moisturizing sheer lipgloss that gives your lips an irresistible shine. There are eight shades in total and the one I bought is 'Some Me Time'.
This lipgloss comes in a squeezy tube, not really my favourite type of packaging but for a sheer gloss as this it should work just fine. Compared to other lipglosses in a squeezable tubes that I own, this packaging looks really pretty. It's simple but it looks really nice, the black stand out nice against the pink gloss and I like it.

'Some Me Time' is a really pretty pink lipgloss with a few golden shimmers in it. Shimmers in a lipgloss could be very ugly but in this one is very subtle and pretty, not the chunky glitters some lipglosses I've tried had. This lipgloss is very tasteful compared to those. Hence the name this is a very sheer lipgloss but I don't mind, it's sheer and pretty and something I will wear quite a lot I think. Another thing I like about this gloss is the fact that it's not very sticky, a lot of lipglosses are sticky (read: get you hair stuck to them) but this one isn't too bad. It's still bit sticky but not in an annoying way at all.
MUA is and always will be a budget brand, therefore MUA lipglosses aren't that expensive. This one was only €2,29 and I think it's well worth it's money. It's a cute pink gloss that's sheer, not too sticky and perfect to wear on an everyday base.

NOTD: Sally Hansen '546 Get Juiced'

Hello my lovely readers,

Today I don't have a long review for you but a small little post in which I show you what nail polish I'm currently wearing, in other words, a 'Nails Of The Day-post'. I recently bought my first two Sally Hansen polishes, Kruidvat has been selling 'Sally Hansen' nail polishes for a while now but I always thought they were too expensive. That was until Kruidvat did a 25% off of all nail polish sale, then they were €8,24 instead of €10,99. Still quite expensive but a bit more affordable. Like I said, I purchased two and today I'm showing one of them called: '546 Get Juiced'.
This nail polish is from the 'Complete Salon Manicure' line that promises give a gel-effect and the quality of a
salon manicure, hence the name. I don't really see that however, the gel-effect doesn't really show but the quality is amazing. The coverage is really good, two coats and the colour is completely opaque. the formula
is really creamy and it's really easy to work with. The color is beautiful as well, it's a looks like a juicy blood orange and I really like the shade. I general I wear orange because orange is the national colour of the Netherlands. This orange however is different and is really wearable, even for us Dutchies.
I'm really impressed by this nail polish and I really hope the other one I bought will be just as good. Of course I will put photos of the other polish online in a NOTD post but for now I hope you enjoyed reading about and looking at 'Get Juiced'.

Love,
E.

MAC Pink Plaid Lipstick

Hello my lovely readers,

I'm writing this review ahead of time but when you're reading this I've just had my prom. Here in the Netherlands proms are less of a big deal than in for example America, we do have them but not with those pretty dresses full of rhinestones, not with the big cars and usually not with dates (not in my case anyway). We are just too down-to-earth to make it a very big happening. This doesn't mean we don't try to look our best on the big night, oh no, we try really hard to be the prettiest version of ourself. Right now, a week before it's going to happen, I'm ready. I've picked out a pretty dress and nice makeup, and a nice lipstick is part of that. I wanted to treat myself and bought a new, quite expensive lipstick to wear during this special occasion. You've probably read it already in the title but I bought a new MAC lipstick that is called 'Pink Plaid'.
'Pink Plaid' is my second lipstick from MAC and just like my first, it's a retro matte one. My first MAC lipstick was a very bright fuchsia/purple shade and I really like the formula of it (read my review here). The retro matte lipsticks are matte and last a really long time, just what I need for my big night. At the counter I didn't even look at the other lipstick lines, I went straight to the matte ones and picked a shade I liked.
This lipstick has MAC's recognizable black with silver specks packaging that looks a bit like a bullet. I think it looks simple and sleek but also luxurious and fancy, just the way I like my lipstick to look :).
This gorgeous matte lipstick can best be described as a cool matte pink colour that makes your teeth look whiter than they actually are. For me this is a really good my-lips-but-better shade and I think this will become the lipstick that I wear on an almost daily basis. The texture of this retro matte lipstick is a little bit more creamy that my other one but it still looks just as matte, they both glide on like a dream only this one does it with just a little bit more ease...
(I was going to post a full face photo in which I wear this lipstick but since I'm not feeling that well because I partied all night at my prom and I haven't made this photo yet, that will come in a separate face of the day post).
I'm in heaven with my new and gorgeous MAC lipstick and I think this will return in many favourites posts. A Dutch beauty blogger describes this lipstick as sweet and cute and I think she nailed it with that description. It's indeed a very sweet lipstick that makes you look cute and girly, not that I mind that because that fits my look and personality quite well.
MAC Retro Matte Lipstick in 'Pink Plaid' is part of the regular collection and available at all MAC counters for €18,50.

Love,
