Essence Sun Club Glamour To Go Eyeshadow: 01 South Beach

Hello my lovely readers,

Yesterday I placed a 'Coming Up' post in which I tried to convince you to buy these 'Sun Club' palettes while you can. I know it is hard to believe someone on what that person writes but today I have a review to convince you for real.
This is what the palette looks like. It hols eight colours, four bright shades and four natural shades. The colour selection is great and I love the fact that you can make a natural or a brighter looks with these. The palette itself is clear with silver details, I think it looks a little bit cheap but then again, it is only a few euros.
I knew this palette was good but the swatches are amazing, they are so well pigmented. The blues are very bright and greatly pigmented but the gold and mint are less bright, still really great but just less than the blues. The natural shades are all pigmented beautifully.
This is the look I made with the bright shades on the left of the palette. I used the gold in my innercorner and played with the blue shades on the rest of my lid. I used the NYC High Definition Volume Mascara (review) and the HEMA Waterproof Eyeliner to line my eyes.
This is the look I made with the shades on the right side of the palette, the kind of look I wear on a daily base. A soft brown look with a darker brown on the crease, a shimmery champagne in the innercorner and a big winged eyeliner. The eyeliner I used is the Rimmel Exaggerate Eye Liner and the mascara I am wearing is the NYC Big Bold Curl Mascara. I also applied the Inside Eye Highlighter Pen from Catrice (review) on my waterline.
I was going to write a blogpost on the second palette as well but they are already gone from the stores.

Coming up: Reviews of the Essence Sun Club Palettes.

Hello my loves,

Normally I do not make sneak peeks of upcoming reviews, only if the product is really special. I thought I would tell you about these palettes already because they are being discontinued and this is the last week you can but them.
If I were you I would get these while you can because they are amazing. Writing reviews costs time, especially when you are in the middle of school tests, like I am but I promise you they will come soon.

Bourjois Rouge Edition Lipstick: '08 Rose Studio'

Hello my loves,

Another lipstick review for you, on tuesday I had a review of a Catrice lipstick for you that is going out of the stores (click here to read it) and today I have one of a lipstick that will not go anywhere. This Bourjois lipstick is part of the 'Rouge Edition' and it is one of the eighteen shades that are available in the Netherlands. The shade I bought is '08 Rose Studio'.
Source: The formula of this lipstick is enriched with orchid-extract and Bourjois promises a unique comfort with a ten hour long hydration. The eighteen shades are coming straight off the catwalks and are divided into three categories.

  1. 'Preppy': In this category you will find chic, nude and natural shades that blend in with your lips.
  2. 'Color-block': Reds and nothing else.  Bright colours for flashy lips.
  3. 'Night-out': Intense and elegant shades for glamourous lips. For a smile that is on trend.
I cannot find which lipsticks belong to which categories.I think the one I bought, 'Rose Studio', belongs to either 'preppy' or 'night-out'  but if I am totally honest, I have no idea.
The lipstick comes in a black bullet with clear bottom. On this bottom you will find the number of the shade, 08 in this case, and this is very convenient when you have several shades from the 'Rouge Edition'. The lid is black as well, on one side the name of the collection is printed in red and pink, on the other side the name of the brand, Bourjois is pressed in the lid and on the other side you see the name of the shade.
My apologies for the bad lighting in the swatch and the colour you see in the photo is a little bit different than it looks like in real life, it is way more purple than it looks like on the photo. I would describe this shade as a blue-toned pink that looks a little bit pale and tends to leans towards to purple. It is very pigmented., I made this swatch in just one swipe.
This is what the lipsticks looks like on my lips, yet again not similar to the way it looks like in real life. It is way more purple than it looks like on the photos. I think this lipstick looks gorgeous on the lips and it complements my skin tone really well. It moisturizes my lips very well but it does not stay on all day long for this reason as well. Moisturizing lipsticks tend to wear off quicker than for instance, matte ones. Do not be scared away by this because it will survive a lunch. Not a fat Greek dinner, but than again, I have never tried a lipstick that stays on during that.
I am impressed, this lipstick is great and the colour is beautiful. Now I really want to try the other shades as well, the problem is that there are way too many shades to choose from.
You can buy the Rouge Edition lipsticks for €11,99 (I bought it at Etos).

Catrice Ultimate Colour Lipstick: 110 Pink Me Up!

Hello my loves,

If you have been reading my blog for a while now, you know I love the Catrice 'Ultimate Colour Lipsticks'. They have a gorgeous colour selection and the quality is great. I have a few now (you can read reviews of the  other colours here and here) and I use them a lot. You can understand that I could not help myself when they were 50% off. That was because some of the shades are being discontinued. One of the shades that will not be available after February anymore is '110 Pink Me Up!'.
Like I said, this lipstick will not be available in february anymore and this means you can buy it for half the price at the moment, that is €1,99!
The bullet is black, just like the other lipsticks of this line and it also has the brand name pressed in the lipstick. I like this kind of packaging, it simple, classic and sophisticated.
This shade is bright reddish pink, just like the name is suggesting. It is really creamy, moisturizing and incredibly pigmented. Just the colour and kind of lipstick I like.
This review was not as in depth as I usually do but I have already written two reviews of this range of lipsticks. I feel like I am repeating myself. Still I wanted to share this with you and show you how pretty this lipstick is. Maybe I have persuaded you to run to the store and pick this up while it is still available.
The Ultimate Colour Lipsticks are usually €3,99 but now you can get this shade (and '080 My Red Card', '230 Glamourize Me', '260 It's A Matt World' and '280 Star Rust') right now for €1,99.

Catrice Made To Stay Inside Eye Highlighter Pen

Hello my loves,

This has been a true hype lately and I have been wanting to it for a while now, a nude eyeliner for your waterline. These eyeliners are supposed to make you look wide and awake, something I could use very well since I have a exam week next week.
I bought this 'Inside Eye Highlighter Pen' from Catrice in the shade '010 In The Mood For Nude'. It a peach coloured twist-up pencil. Catrice promises dazzling moments and visibly opens up your eyes and makes them look bigger. It will give your an absolutely indispensable for a radiant, wide-awake look. It also promises to stay on your waterline all week.
The pencil can be twisted up and you can pull the end out if you want a pencilsharpener, just like the other Catrice pencils. I really like the look of this pencil, the peach with silver looks really pretty and it makes it stand out in your stash, you will find it easily.
The pencil is really soft and very pigmented. This is really good because otherwise it will hurt your eyes. Catrice promised that this pencil will be waterproof and longlasting and that is exactly the case. I applied this in the morning and when I got home from school it was still there, amazing.
Here you can see me wear the liner on my waterline. The colour looks really white on the photos but in real-life it is a true peach, really pretty.
These are the other products I am wearing on the photos:

  • Essence:  Metallic Effect Eyeshadow: 45 Back To Khaki. (Review)
  • MAC: Velvet Eyeshadow: Mulch. (Review)
  • Sleek: I-Divine Mineral Based Eye Shadow Palette: Storm 578 (I used the dark green colour). (Review)
  • Maybelline: Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Liner: 01 Black.
  • NYC: High Definition Volumizing Mascara. (Review)
I really like the way this look turned out, it is smokey and metallic. Exactly like the trend is right now and perfect for this time a year.
This little pencil will definitely become a staple in my daily makeup routine. I feel like it really opens up my eyes and makes me look awake. Like I said in the intro, I have some very busy weeks coming up with probably little sleep. This will make me look alive and not like a zombie.
You can buy this pencil for €2,89.

NYC High Definition Volume Volumizing Mascara

Hello my loves,

Today I have a mascara review for you guys. This mascara is designed to give you ten times more volume thanks to the 'Volume Mania Technology' which makes your lashes ten times as thick. The exclusive multifunctional synthetic brush separates your lashes and gives them volume.
This mascara has two different sides. The side with the short bristles gives you impressive volume and the side with the longer ones separates your lashes and gives them definition. NYC promises more lash visibility, up to 70%.
This mascara comes in a  bright orange tube with bold black letters and a plastic brush. You can buy this brush in two shades; 'Extreme Black' and 'Carbon'. My brother bought this mascara for me and  he got the 'carbon' version, typical for a boy. They do not know that we want the blackest mascara possible.
You cannot see it on the picture above but on the one above that you can see the longer row of bristles. When I first used this I saw that using this longer row does something different to your lashes than the shorter rows do. I have not figured out what the difference is yet but one of the rows gives your lashes volume and the other one give you length.
The mascara gives my lashes quite some volume as you can see on the photos. It makes them black and it makes them longer. It also makes my stubborn lash stand up straight along with my other lashes. This separates my lashes but it does not hold the whole day. At the end of the day your basically left with black lashes that are volumeless and clumped together. I also noticed little mascara flakes falling of my lashes. It is a nice mascara but  not very longlasting.
This orange little tube is not the best mascara ever but certainly not the worst one. It is only €4,99 and I think that is a good price for a moderate mascara. In Holland NYC is sold at Kruidvat and at Trekpleister but I know for sure they sell this brand in the States and the UK as well. There are better mascaras on the market but if you can give it a try. Maybe it will work better on your lashes.

Nails of 2013

Hello my loves,

When I was cleaning my image library out I found a map with all the nail photos I had made in the past year. I thought it would be fun to make a cumulative post in which I showed you every single NOTD-post that I have made in the past year.
Enjoy!

Some Catrice, Essie and OPI, something of everything right? I hope you enjoyed this quick post, I do not think it is very useful but I thought it would be fun.  If you want to know the names of the nail polishes, you will have to let me know in the comment section.
