Empties: September & October

Hello my loves,

Time for another empties post, and it is already the second to last one of 2013. Has this year not gone by like a speedboat? My head is still in France while the leaves are falling outside and the sky is turning darker quicker every day. The one thing that never stops is me finishing products I use and today I am going to show you which ones I finished in the last two months.
I can not make pictures of these products anymore because a friend of mine needed them for an art project but I think I still need to incorporate them in this post since I did finish them. The first one I finished is the Prime And Fine Translucent Loose powder by Catrice which I have been using for a really long time. At the moment I am using a compact powder but I really like using this old one. Than I finished a BB cream by Maybelline which I liked but got tired of in the end. It did give me enough coverage but I just felt my skin going down as I started using it again. The third makeup product is a mascara by Rimmel. This has become one of my favourite mascaras and I love it. Maybe I will repurchase this when I finish my Catrice Glamour Doll one because I did not review this one yet. The last one is a perfume which I finally finishes after three years, Beyonce Heat Rush. I wanted to finish this before the autumn time and I did it.
Let's move on to shower products I finished quite a few hair product this time, a shampoo, conditioner and a deep conditioner.  The shampoo I finished is the Grapefruit Tonic one by Garnier. I wrote a loving review about it but I have to take my words back a little bit. This shampoo does what it promises indeed but I noticed that my split ends got worse as longer I was using it. That is why I wont be repurchasing this again. The conditioner I finished is the Aussie Aussome Volume conditioner which I liked but did not feel like it did something for my hair. I did not give me extra volume or anything. The last hair product that is empty now is the John Frieda, Deep Repair deep conditioner. The last product on this picture is not a product for your hair but it is a product for in the shower.I finally finished my Dove Beauty Blossom body wash.  I have loved using this but I just got  tired of it, last month I went all out with this, I used this every time I took a shower (so basicly every day) and I reminded me of how much I loved it. Still I am glad it is empty now because now I can buy some wintery body washes.
The next category of finished products is skincare and I finished three things this month. The first one is by Vichy and it is the Pureté Thermal 3 in 1 Solution Micellaire, in other words Bioderma but better. I have been loving Bioderma lately but I have to say that I like this one by Vichy better. That why I would probably buy this one again after I finish my Bioderma one. The second product I finished is by Nivea, just like the third one. They are from the same 'Aqua Effect' line and I love this line. After finishing them three times, I thought it was time to try something else. I do however think that I will go back to these ones some time soon.
Than as a third category I have miscellaneous beauty products. I finished three nail polish removers of which two of them are by HEMA. For some reason I always peel the stickers of these jars off but you might recognize the bright pink packaging, it is the Dip&Clean Nail Polish Remover, which is the love of my life. This is just so easy and I always remove my nail polish with this, just not my glitter polish because that ruins the sponge that is inside the jar. Just the fact I love wearing glitter nail polish is the only reason why I still but normal nail polish remover. I do not have any preferences but I currently finished the one from Kruidvat. Than I also finished my beauty blossom cream which I used along with my body wash and a roll-on eye thing by Garnier.
The last products! Are you sad yet?  This month I decided to clean out my nail polish and I have a few polishes I am going to throw again after this post. They were all getting thick or as good as empty.

  • L'Oreal: name unknown
  • Essence: 05 Simply Nude
  • Essence: Anti Split Nail Sealer
  • Maybelline: 12 Rose Force
  • Essence: 74 Fall For Me
  • Essence: 03 Pink Glam
Another thing I will be throwing away is this really old Essence Lipstick. I believe these are still sold but I despise them. They look really cheap and colour I own, 52 In The Nude,  is horrific. Maybe I will give the new ones a try but the old ones, no freakin' way.  The last thing I used up is a mask. I finished the Refreshing Raspberry Mask by Dr. Van Der Hoog and that was it for the last two months. My next empties post will be the last one of this year! Wajoo that escalated quickly. See you again next month, next saturday!

Tag: Fall In Love

Hello my loves,

Ever since I saw this tag on YouTube I have been wanting to do it as well. The tag looks fun to do and the same is just the cutest tagname I have ever heard. I am going to answer eight questions that are connection to the autumn time (British: Autumn, American: Fall).
The pictures are not my own but I did add the letters myself.
What fall trend are you most excited for?
This question is an easy one for me to answer, cozy sweaters. I have always loved the fashion in the autumn more than in any other season, especially the sweaters. This year they are bigger than ever and I hope this trend will continue for a few years. I am especially keen on the big chunky ones, imagine just bundling up in a cozy huge sweater while sipping from your cup of hot choco. I can not wait for the cold to come.
What is your favourite fall beauty product?
This question is also an easy one for me to answer, dark lips, without doubt. I love dark red and dark purple lips but I am still a bit scared to rock them during school-time. I do not own a dark (and than I mean dark) lipstick but I do have some darker colours like '270 Matt-erial Girl' by Catrice and '01' by Rimmel (Kate Moss Line). The next lipstick I will buy is probably a dark purple of a dark bloody red.
What is your favourite fall drink?
I know a lot of American and British YouTubers will answer this question with  some sort of drink from Starbucks but not I. You must think I am crazy but I have only been to Starbucks, once in my entire life and even than, I had a muffin. I do not drink coffee and the nearest Starbucks is a hour away by bus. That is why I am choosing a cup of steaming hot chocolate for this question.
What is your favourite fall scent?
For the autumn time I love to switch out my fresh and airy summer scents for some heavier sexy scents. I have three favourites. My absolute favourite perfume for the autumn is 'Princess' by Vera Wang but I have some other scents I like as well. I like 'Seductive I'm Yours' by Guess and of course 'Light Blue' by Dolce & Gabbana. Guess is perfect for nights out and D&G is a little bit lighter for during the day. These three perfumes will get us through autumn.
What fall trend do you hate?
This one is easy for me as well, faux fur. I hate it real fur and I am not very keen on the faux version as well. I just do not get why someone would want to wear a dead animal (I do wear leather but still). Faux fur can look good on some people like the girl on the picture above but on me and on almost all the people I have seen wearing it it looks like they are being swallowed by an animal. Do not get me wrong I love the teddy bear coats and I am drying to get one.
What is your Halloween costume this year?
In the Netherlands, Halloween is not such a big tradition as in America. We do not really celebrate Halloween by trick or treating or having huge dress up parties. We do have something similar to trick or treat on the 11th of november. If I would have a Halloween party  this year, which I do not, I would probably just wear a mask. We have a saying in Holland, 'just behave normal, than you are acting crazy enough.' No weird costumes for me, I would keep it classy.
What is your favourite fall song?
My favourite song that has really something to do with the autumn time is 'Autumn Leaves' by Ed Sheeran but I have a few other songs I love at the moment. 'Take Your Time Girl' by Niels Geusebroek is a song I love and I already shared it with you in my last Albums of the Moment post. Other songs I like at the moment are 'Papaoutai' by Stromae, 'Burn' by Ellie Goulding and 'Royals' by Lorde. Those songs symbolize autumn 2013 for me at the moment. I am also digging 'Of The Night' by Bastille.
What is your favourite Halloween sweet/candy?
This one is probably the easiest, I do not have one. As far as I know, the stores in Holland do not sell a specific Halloween candy. We do have special candy for Sinterklaas, but that is something typically Dutch. Maybe I will do a separate post on that holiday but I will let you know of course.
That was is for this tag and this must not come to a surprise to you but I tag you as well. Please let me know your answers to the tag because I would love to read them. I sure hope you liked reading about mine.

NOTD: Essence 147 Miss Universe

Hello my loves,

Today I have another nail post for you, I know it is the second one a week but I just had to share this nail polish with you. I already shared a swatch of this polish with you in a review but that photo was a blurry mess. When I painted my nails with this polish again I was blown away. This is the first time I am really wearing it because I just made a swatch for the post and did not really look at it after.
These pictures are better right? I think this nail polish is a gorgeous classic colour which is perfect for the autumn winter time. The base of the polish is blue and it has green and blue shimmers. On the pictures, the green ones do not show but when the sun hits it in the right place your nail will shine like an ocean. That is exactly what this polish reminds me off, a beautiful dark blue ocean.
The Essence polishes are still available for €1,69 a piece.

Burt's Bees Lipbalm with Pomegranate Oil

Hello my loves,

For years I have been hearing about the miracle called Burt's Bees but I always thought I could not buy it in the Netherlands. That was until I was roaming the shelves of Kruidvat and I stopped at the lip balms. I had already put a new Labello in my basket when something yellow caught my eye.
I saw the yellow packaging of Burt's Bees and I almost squeaked.  How did I not know this was sold in the Netherlands? Why did not one of the beauty bloggers I read wrote about this? I have no idea...
The lipbalm comes in a cardboard packaging with the cutest bee I have ever seen on the side. I do not know if there are other versions of this lipbalm but I bought the one with pomegranate oil. I am kind of digging the packaging, it is so retro!
Here is a list of the ingredients for those of you who are interested in it. This lipbalm is 100% natural according to the packaging and if I scan the list with ingredients I kind of have to believe that, sunflower, beeswax, coconut and pomegranate oil.
The lipbalm that was hiding in the cardboard has the same colours as that packaging, yellow with red and it promises me that this balm is nourishing and hydrating. I had to search quite some time until I found out how I could twist it up. The part that you have to turn is very small and kind of hard to twist.
The lipbalm has a very sheer reddish colour that does not show up on your lips. It promises; it nourishes my lips and makes them soft like a babies butt. The texture feels a bit weird when you apply it to your lips , the stick seems kind of dry and it feels just very odd. When you apply it on your lips however, it is not drying at all.
I think I will get a lot of use out of this lipstick with chapped-lip-season coming up. My lips are always very chapped and dry during the autumn winter time so I am always looking for new good lipbalms. I already have a few favourites and I think I can add this one to the list. I can not remember the price of this balm but I believe it was under four euros.

NOTD: Hey, Nude!

Hello my loves,

Today I have another NOTD post for you. For those of you that do not know what this is, it is basically a post in which I show you what nail polish I am wearing at the moment. Today's NOTD is a sparkle sand one from Essence. OPI has got the jackpot with their liquid sand polishes because a lot of brands are copying the look of them, including Essence.
There are three liquid sand Essence nail polishes and I currently own one of them. This gorgeous one is called 'Hey, Nude!' and it  is a soft pink matte glittery polish that makes your nail look like sanda and feel a little bit rough. It gives your nail a really classic sophisticated look with a little fun twist.
You can buy the Essence Liquid Sand at the drugstore for €1,69.

HEMA Fan Brush

Hello my loves,

I have been looking for a nice brush to apply my highlighter. What brush? I had absolutely no idea until I was searching the brush section at HEMA. I found this fan-shaped brush and I remembered a YouTube video in which somebody told me about there brush must haves. The fan brush was among them and she used it to apply highlighter at her cheeks. I decided to give this little fan a try.
MAC has a similar makeup-brush and they say that it is perfect for the featherweight application and blending of pigments and powders or can be used as a tool to gently clear the skin of any excess product. Not a word about highlighter and on other websites I found out that this brush can be used for blush as well.
I have always liked the design of the HEMA brushes. Most of them have a black steel with the HEMA-logo on it in white. I also have a powder brush with a white steel and a foundation brush with a pink handle but I prefer the ones in black.
Th hairs of the brush are incredible soft and after I plucked some of the sparse hairs the brush had a nice shape as well. I washed it and none of the hairs came out which is something I am not used to. Cheap brushes like this one normally moult like crazy but not this one. I am impressed.
I used this brush for applying both highlighter and blush and it worked great with both products. The brush is amazing for applying a very pigmented blush like the Catrice Glamazona one I never really use because it is way to pigmented to apply with a ordinary blush brush. This is however not my favourite way to  use this brush, I like it better for applying highlighter (which was the purpose of it when I bought it). It sprinkles the perfect amount of the highlighter on my cheeks and it is just perfect.
You can buy the fan brush by HEMA for €3,10 at most HEMA stores.

Get Ready With Me: An Autumn School Day

Hello my loves,

Today I do not have a review for you, I have a get ready post for you. If you are not familiar with this concept you must have been living underneath a rock because this has been around for a few years now. I am basically going to show you my way of starting my day. In this edition I'm showing you how I start my day on  an autumn school day.
When I have to go to school my alarm clock rings at 6 o'clock in  the morning because I live quite far away from school (an hour by bike to be exact). I get up at six and I have to leave the house at 7.15.
Of course I have to check my social media before I get out of bed. Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, I have it all and I always play some Candy Crush as well. The last app I check before I get out of bed I check the What To Wear app. It is by Style Today and it is available for Apple and Android. The I get out of bed and take a shower.
The What To Wear app is great for determining what you are going to wear for the day and I often wear something that is similar to the outfit shown in the app. I pick my clothing, shoes and accessories and then it is time for my makeup.
Before I apply any makeup I remove all the makeup that could have been left on my face with some Bioderma. I apply some moisturizer (Neutral Face Cream) as well too, this makes my foundation go on smoother as well. I also use a lipbalm (Vichy: Aqualia Thermal Lip balm) at this point to prepare my lips for the lip product.
I always start my look by creating a flawless complexion. This I do by applying my foundation (Catrice: Photo Finish 18H  Liquid Foundation: 020 Rosy Beige) and getting  rid of my dark under eye circles (Catrice: Camouflage Cream: 010 Ivory). When my face is flawless I'll do my brows using a powder (Etos: Brow Powder: 002) and setting them with a brow gel (Essence: Lash & Brow Gel Mascara).
My eye look for a school day is really basic and I can do it really quick. I start by applying a taupe cream eyeshadow (Maybelline: Color Tattoo 24HR Gel-Cream Eyeshadow: 40 Permanent Taupe) that stays on all day.  Than I blend a reddish brown (MAC: Velvet Eye Shadow: Mulch) eyeshadow in my crease. To finish off my look I apply my favourite mascara (Catrice: Glamour Doll Mascara: 010 No Limits) and some winged liquid liner (Rimmel: Exaggerate Eye Liner: 001 100% Black).
When I finish my looks I first powder it all off with my mattifying powder (Catrice: All Matt Plus Shine Control Powder: 010 Transparent) and then I add blush (Rimmel: Lasting Finish Soft Colour Blush: 120 Pink Rose) and highlighter (Essence: Return To Paradise Shimmer Powder: 01 The Famous Flamingo). After blush I am setting everything with the same powder and finish off my look with a soft pink matte lip product (Essence: Stay Matt Lip Cream: 01 Velvet Rose).
After my makeup I choose the perfume I will be wearing for the day and I have three favourites at the moment; Vera Wang Princess, Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh and Dolce&Gabbana Light Blue.I think Vera Wang is great for the autumn/winter time and Marc Jacobs has been my favourite summer scent that I still wear lot. Dolce&Gabbana was in my last favourites and is a great perfume for all year round but best in the autumn because I think it is a little bit too heavy for the summer time. I also apply some deodorant (Dove: Go Fresh: Pomegranate & Lemon Verbena).

Than it is time for a quick breakfast since I do not have a lot of time left. I usually eat two slices of brown bread with something on it (sprinkles, nutella or cheese) and drink a glass of milk, I make my lunch put it in my bag and that is it, I get on my bike and cycle to school.
Source
I hoped you liked reading about the beginning of my day.I usually takes my 3/4 of an hour to get dressed, shower and o my makeup and than I still have half an hour to eat and watch some television before I get onto my bike.
